About The Academy Holmbush Primary Academy is seeking to appoint a Business Manager starting from January 2017 to be responsible for leading on Finance and HR matters within the academy.
The successful candidate will ideally have experience working in the finance departmentof an educational institution, local authority or academies trust.
Holmbush Primary Academy provides a safe, attractive and stimulating learning environment for over 200 pupils ages 4 to 11 and is part of the University of Brighton Academies Trust.
Main purpose of the role Responsibility for day to day planning of the academys business and support services, including finance and administrationResponsibility for local finance, facilities and estates, and Health and Safety management.
Salary This position will be paid at NJC Grade 9, Points 31
    *34 which is and 163 27, 394
    *and 163 29, 854 per annum pro rata.
The actual salary will be and 163 13, 554
    *and 163 14, 628based on working 20 hours per week, 42 weeks per year.
Key Tasks To administer and oversee the Academys financial operations in line with financial procedures, managing value for money in action and ensuring this culture is permeated through the academy.
To ensure that those making decisions are provided with information that is fit for purpose, relevant and timely.
Work with the Finance Assistant to provide information and analysis to support option analyses and business cases and to promote the importanceof financial information in effective decision making.
To co
    *ordinate and collate information and data for financial and reporting purposes, statutory returns and to support academy and Trust strategy.
To provide financial and performance monitoring data to support the academy and Trust in benchmarking againstobjectives.
To negotiate, manage and monitor contracts, tenders and agreements in place for the Academy, in liaison with the Finance Assistant and Trust, for the provision of support services, and to ensure that each arrangement offers and continues to offer valuefor money.
To analyse the use of resources and facilities, making recommendations for efficiency improvements to optimise learning outcomes across the academy.
To maximise the use of facilities in order to generate income and manage the lettings of the Academys premisesto external organisations.
To assist with planning, development, design, organisation and monitoring of support services and whole academy systems, policies and procedures in liaison with the Director of Operational Services.
To line manage the facilities, finance and office team members to deliver robust service to the academy and Trust.
To monitor and manage the performance of these staff including identifying competency or skills gaps identifying relevant training and CPDopportunities for team members addressing poor performance or other issues as necessary.
To support pupil recruitment to ensure academy sustainability.
To contribute to the development of a marketing and communication plan in line with Trust guidelines.
To coordinate and facilitate the delivery of a consistent brand across the academy.
To complete Lottery grants applicationTo collate and prepare data for payroll processing, liaising with necessary staff to facilitate monthly payroll reconciliation.
To check and authorise purchase orders and invoices etc. in line with the Trust financial regulations, processes and agreed responsibilities on occasions as necessaryTo organise and manage the administration of the nursery, including preparing invoices and managing the income.
To administer BPS budget planning software and input figures from payrun reports to create payroll reconciliation reports for finance Key Skills and Abilities Ability to work independently demonstrating initiative and proactivity.
Ability to contribute to academy business planning.
Ability to analyse and interpret complex information and make recommendations.
Ability to problem
Ability to communicate with a range of audiences including colleagues, governors, University of Brighton Academies Trust and suppliers.
Ability to identify work priorities and manage own workload to meet deadlines whilst ensuring that lower priority work is kept up to date.
Education and Qualifications GCSE or equivalent in Maths and English.
Further education in relevant business management or finance subjects.
Desirable A professional qualification in Business Management or Accountancy minimum AAT qualification.
Knowledge and Experience A sound knowledge of budget management and accounting techniques.
A sound knowledge of a range of computer applications including financial management systems.
Experience of budget monitoring and account reconciliation.
Experience of producing a variety of financial reports including detailed management accounts.
Experience in people and performance management.
Desirable Knowledge of facilities and premises management.
